i don’t quite understand how the OP levels work.
i just bought the second UVHM pack. (still haven’t even made it to the first one. )
and i’m reading about overpower levels and you have to beat digistruct peak to unlock each level.
what is the «OP» level exactly?
does it just make the game harder?
i saw a video someone wearing gear that had requirements of «OP:8»
does unlocking the overpower level scale everything in the game to that level? i saw a video someone in tiny tina’s dlc farming an OP 8 bee shield.
i know the max level is now 72 but what does the op level do? does it give new skills or is it just higher scaled gear and enemies? and what’s the point of it? is playing on OP8 with OP8 gear any diffeent than playing on level 72 with level 72 gear?
Okay, it works sorta like this:
Get to Level 72, which required both UVHM packs. Clear the Raid on Digistruct Peak event(a history of simulated violence). You can now set your character to OverPower level 1, or OP1, I believe it is done at the Title Screen. Clear the Raid again at OP1 to unlock OP2, and so on until OP8.
What OverPower levels do: They act like a Level Up for the sake of stats like Damage, Health, and Shield, but do NOT offer a Skill Point.
Due to UVHM scaling with you, if you go and turn on OverPower levels, enemies will scale up with that, but, IIRC, you get stuff like damage penalties due to being functionally lower leveled, thus making enemies harder to bring down.
Player health doesn’t change with OP levels, that’s why Hoplite shield was/is bugged.
Can you go back to regular UVHM with OP gear?
it not too hard to figure out. get level 72 then go to digistruct peak. go round it once and KERBLAM!! you ll be op1 then quit n save. now when u select your charachter and mode a new option will appear if you have selected ultimate mode,it ll ask you if u want to up the op level. sooooo as you ve just completed digistruct you ll up it to 1 which il make everything slightly harder than normal ultimate mode.,this increases further as you go from op1 to op2 etc etc
worth mentioning your guns n gear do not op up as your charachter does you ll have to farm new 1s
yeah so like, you set it to op1 and then op1 gear drops and when you set it to op8, op8 gear will drop. i get that.
i also know that you get a huge damage penalty and the enemies get a huge damage bonus even when they are just a couple levels above you. anything 3 or 4 levels above can pretty much 1 shot kill you and takes a million zillion shots, if you can even hit it. so.
it sounds like you guys are saying that enemies can be 12-13 levels above you in op8. how does one even play this?! does the op8 gear scale well enough that you can play without being downed in 1 hit?

i’m level 52 siren now, almost done with TVHM. and even in tvhm with level 50 shields, some level 52 enemies are knocking me down in 1 or 2 hits. i’m doing it.
the question i was asking is how do people do OP8 with the 70% damage reduction and the enemies get 70% damage bonus.
does the OP8 gear scale high enough that it makes this possible?
With the first character its rough because all you have is lvl 72 weapons and gear. That will get you to OP3-4 without too much grief. Beyond that you have to either farm or use the vending machines to get new gear. I was a DP Harold nut through the whole thing by farming Pete’s Bar for the tokens, and then just quit/save multiple times for an OP4 Harold from the machine in the same room.
Then I’d just go back and claw my way to OP6, go back to the bar and repeat. Once the first toon was leveled up I had the inventory for the next class. I only leveled three of my seven characters before I gave up. At OP8 with OP8 gear its just like UVHM at 61 with lvl 61 gear, maybe a little more difficult.

Ok, so being level 72 on UVHM and finishing the Digistruct Peak challenge will unlock the Overpower levels. Each run through the challenge will unlock a new Overpower level (I believe).
So at first, you’ll be able to set the UVHM playthrough in the game options to Level 73 (Overpower 1), then Level 74 (Overpower 2) and so on. Obviously you can farm whatever enemies at that Overpower level for their respective Legendaries, Purples, Uniques and Pearlescents.
But, is the Overpower option able to be toggled on and off? So, can you farm for a Level 74 Maggie for example, get it, turn off the Overpower levels in the options and the game world goes back to the Level 72 cap with you being able to still use that gun?
I mean, the red notification saying «Level Requirement» on the card stats wouldn’t really make sense unless you could only use Overpower guns when you Overpower the world. That would mean you could get a Level 76 Maggie but set the world to Level 73 and still use the gun, right?
Otherwise, I don’t see the point in getting Level 80 gear and only being able to use it on Level 80 enemies. It wouldn’t be that much different from simply playing the game at Level 61 or Level 72.

edit: example would be you gain two overpower levels from DP so you can use any level 74 loot you obtained. Leave the DP and you’re still OP getting to continue using your OP gear.

I did some digging around in the forum link A Slipstream Sloth provided and THIS made my day:
‘From the team: «Loot never scales. If you have a level 80 Conference Call, you can bring that with you back to UVHM Overpowered 0 or back to Playthrough 1, just like any other gear. For reference, a level 80 Conference Call is about 2.6 times more powerful than a level 72 Conference Call.
The only catch is that a player cannot wear overpowered gear if they themselves have not unlocked that overpowered level. It is just like if you were level 49 and trying to wear level 50 gear—you would not meet the min requirement.»‘
So as long as you unlock those Overpower levels yourself, you’re good to go! This means you cannot trade or dupe these Overpower weapons if you haven’t unlocked the corresponding Overpower level at the Peak on your own (or in co-op).
But still, I hope it doesn’t boil down to 1-4 players spending like 60 seconds on normal enemies because they all have Raid boss absurdity.

Not exactly. Your character is still going to be level 72.
Everything ELSE is level 80.
You can obtain gear that’s also level 80 (OP8), but that doesn’t change your level.

The DLC increases the level cap to 72, but also introduces a new ranking system called «Overpower levels». This creates an opportunity for fighting enemies and collecting loot rated up to 10 levels with the free update that came with Commander Lilith & the Fight for Sanctuary. You do not need Commander Lilith & the Fight for Sanctuary installed in order to access overpower levels.
In normal mode, the level in Digistruct Peak will always be 35.

The pack introduces a new area called Digistruct Peak Challenge: a mountaintop training ground for the Crimson Raiders. Upon arrival, researcher-turned-freedom fighter Patricia Tannis is waiting to give the rundown on what’s in store.
The introductory mission, which is balanced for a full team of four players, takes roughly an hour to complete, and winds through a series of twisting mountain paths and open spaces; all of which function as battlegrounds in which characters encounter the full rogue’s gallery of Borderlands 2 enemies.
At first the types, numbers, and locations of each enemy encountered is static, but an element of randomness is introduced as Overpower levels climb higher.
Overpower Levels
The entire world is affected when the game is set to a certain Overpower level; enemies are more deadly and they drop more powerful loot. Skill advancement still caps out at level 80, but Overpower levels allow higher-level gear. Once all of the Overpower levels are unlocked and a level 80 game is started, enemies will appear at level 90+, and gear rated for level 90 can be used.
How to Overpower
Upon reaching level 80 and the completion of the Digistruct Peak arena in Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode, Overpower Level 1 unlocks. Players who attempt the Digistruct Peak arena challenge in Borderlands: The Handsome Collection, are required to get the Commander Lilith & the fight for Sanctuary DLC to gain acces to the additional level cap of 80. To access the additional Overpower levels, players who have reached level 80 must exit the game after completion of the challenge and reload. Upon restarting the game, a prompt appears that will offer options for which Overpower level is desired.
Every time players play through the Digistruct arena at the highest available level the next Overpower level becomes unlocked. There are 10 Overpower levels in total, meaning the arena must be completed at least 10 times in order to reach the maximum Overpower level of 10.
In multiplayer games, characters at a lower Overpower level cannot inherit levels gained by the host of the game if the host completes a higher arena challenge. For example, if the host is Overpower level 5 and completes an arena with other characters who are at Overpower level 2, only the host will rank up to Overpower level 6. The rest of the team will remain at Overpower level 2, because they are required to complete the earlier power levels.
If the host and any additional characters are at the same Overpower level when a round is started, they will all rank up to the next Overpower level once the arena is completed. The table below describes the effective level that game scales enemies to, when characters reach a particular Overpower level:

Damage Reduction
As additional Overpower levels are gained, enemies will generally begin to spawn at higher levels. These enemies receive a passive damage reduction that is based upon how many levels they outrank playable characters. The exact damage reduction percentages are expressed in the table below:

For example, at level 80 and Overpower level 10, weapons will deal 10% less damage against a level 82 enemy or 55% less damage against a level 88 enemy.
Generally, most regular enemies will cap at around 92, but there are a few exceptions to this. The Ancient Dragons of Destruction, Dexiduous the Invincible, and Vermivorous the Invincible can reach 3 levels higher, level 93, which grants them 70% damage reduction. Bridget Hodunk and Colin Zaford cap out at 95, making them the highest possible level among bosses.
