After you’ve identified the individual leads, please proceed
with the following steps to install the OmniJoin adaptor:

If you replace an existing 40mm fan with the NF-A4x10 in devices
such as storage or network solutions, it is usually best to use the
screws (or other mounting mechanism) used for the original fan.

When installing the NF-A4x10 as a case fan, you can either use the
supplied mounting screws or silicone anti-vibration mounts. In order
to install the fan using the silicone mounts, please first pull the sili-
cone mounts through the mounting holes of the case. Then put the
fan onto the silicone mounts and pull them through the mounting
holes of the fan:

The NF-A4x10 features a standard 3-pin fan connector. However,
please note that the fan can also be connected to 4-pin mainboard
fan headers. If you would like to connect the fan to a 2-pin fan hea-
der, please use the supplied 3:2-pin adaptor (NA-AC2). Please note
that there are different types of 2-pin connectors, so it is possible that
the supplied adaptor doesn’t fit. In this case, please use the supplied
OmniJoin adaptor set as described below. Note that the NF-A4x10
features an integrated polarity protection so there’s no risk of dama-
ging the fan due to reversed polarity. However, the fan will not work
when it is connected the wrong way around, so please make sure that
it is connected correctly when using 2-pin connections.

The NF-A4x10 features a short 20cm primary cable in order to help
you minimise cable clutter in typical applications. If you need a lon-
ger cable, please add the supplied 30cm extension (NA-EC2).

The NF-A4x10 comes with a Low-Noise Adaptor (NA-RC10) that
allows you to reduce the fan speed from 4500 to 3700rpm in order
to achieve even quieter operation.

Cleaning and Maintenance

Fans inside computer cases tend to accumulate dust over longer pe-
riods of usage. In order to maintain maximum performance, please
clean your fans regularly using a duster, slightly moist tissue or
canned air. Please be careful not to use too much force in order to
prevent any damage to the fan. Please don’t use a vacuum cleaner as
this may apply excessive force to the fan. In order to ensure flawless
operation over many years of usage, the NF-A4x10’s premium grade
SSO2 bearing is fully sealed to prevent the entering of fine dust par-
ticles. Please note that the fan is not designed to be taken apart by
the user. Removing the impeller from the frame will break the sealing
of the bearing and results in a loss of warranty.

Using the OmniJoin adaptor set

The supplied OmniJoin adaptor set allows you to easily connect the
NF-A4x10 to proprietary fan headers if you want to replace a 40mm
fan in devices such as network or storage solutions.

Please first identify the individual leads of the OmniJoin adaptor and
the original fan. The OmniJoin adaptor uses black for ground (GND)
and red for +12V. The black lead of the adaptor has to be matched
with the original GND lead and the red adaptor cable with the original
+12V lead. Many fan cables use the same colours as the OmniJoin
adaptor, but please note that there is no guarantee for this, so make
sure to correctly identify the GND and +12V leads of the original
fan. Please refer to the manual that came with the device or contact
the device manufacturer if in doubt.

Cut off the connector of the fan that was originally used in the de-
vice. Make sure not to cut the cable directly at the connector, there
should be least a 2-3 centimetres of cable left:

Note that it is not necessary to remove the insulation from the cables.

Then take one of the supplied 3M Skotchlok™ connectors and
insert the GND lead of the original cable and the black lead of the
OminJoin adaptor into the two holes of the Skotchlok™ connector.
Make sure that both leads are fully inserted and pushed all the
way back.

Then use flat nose pliers to push down the white button of the
Skotchlok™ connector. Make sure that the button is not jammed and
pushed all the way down. If the button is jammed, push it down from
both sides of the Skotchlok™ connector using the flat nose pliers.

After you’ve fixed the original fan’s cable to the OmniJoin adaptor
using the Skotchlok™ connectors, simply connect the NF-A4x10 to
the adaptor in order to use it in your device.

Выбирать 40 мм вентилятор нам приходится довольно редко. Но если потребность в таковом появляется, то не всё так просто — сходу покупать такие вещи нельзя. Почему? А всё просто — в большинстве своём дешёвые решения довольно шумные, да и качество у них посредственное. И тут вступает в игру компания Noctua, предлагая пользователям NF-A4x10 FLX, который, к тому же, обладает и довольно богатым комплектом. Что ж, перейдём к рассмотрению этой малютки!

Цена Noctua NF-A4x10 FLX в московской рознице на момент написания обзора составляет от 390 рублей.

Вы будете несколько удивлены, но данный 40 мм вентилятор поставляется в такой же по размеру коробке, как и 120 мм модели. Кроме набора основных достоинств, на лицевой стороне коробки присутствует наклейка «incl. OmniJoin Adaptor Set», которая означает, что в комплекте поставки присутствует комплект для соединения проводов, который мы рассмотрим позже.

Производитель выделяет две главные особенности вентилятора:

Что же такое OmniJoin (NA-JC1)? Всё просто — это набор для соединения проводов для подключения вентилятора. Если вам не хватает длины или вы хотите подключить ваш вентилятор к другим проводам, то данный набор практически всё сделает за вас. В прозрачные пластиковые крепления с зажимом вставляются провода и его необходимо лишь сжать плоскогубцами. Во время сжатия концы проводов зачищаются и замыкаются между собой. Никаких скруток, наборов для пайки и т.д. — нужны лишь плоскогубцы.

Стоит отметить, что для 40 мм вентилятора он тихий даже на максимальной скорости работы, о чём не могут мечтать дешёвые вентиляторы, функционирующие и на менее высоких скоростях. А при установке NF-A4x10 FLX в корпус о нём вообще можно забыть — шум невозможно услышать.

Заключение
Noctua NF-A4x10 FLX, пожалуй, самый качественный и тихий 40 мм вентилятор из тех, что нам доводилось видеть. Focused Flow™ frame
Designed for pressure demanding applications such as heatsinks and radiators, the Focused Flow™ frame features eleven stator guide vanes that straighten, channel and focus the airflow, which allows the NF-F12 to rival the performance of conventional fans running at much faster speeds.

Varying Angular Distance and Vortex Control Notches
The NF-F12’s stator guide vanes are set out in Varying Angular Distance and feature Vortex-Control Notches. Both measures help to spread the noise emission over a broader frequency spectrum and thus make the fan’s sound pattern more agreeable to the human ear.

Heptaperf™ Impeller
Custom designed for the new Focused Flow™ frame and to work in tandem with the eleven stator guide vanes, the NF-F12’s seven blade Heptaperf™ impeller has been carefully optimised to achieve a perfect balance between power and quietness.

AAO frame
Noctua’s AAO (Advanced Acoustic Optimisation) frames feature integrated anti-vibration pads as well as Noctua’s proprietary Stepped Inlet Design and Inner Surface Microstructures, both of which further refine the fan’s performance/noise efficiency.

Stepped Inlet Design
Noctua’s Stepped Inlet Design adds turbulence to the influx in order to facilitate the transition from laminar flow to turbulent flow, which reduces tonal intake noise, improves flow attachment and increases suction capacity, especially in space-restricted environments.

Inner Surface Microstructures

Polarity protection

SSO2 Bearing
The NF-F12 is the first fan to feature the further optimised second generation of Noctua’s renowned, time-tested SSO bearing. With SSO2, the rear magnet is placed closer to the axis to provide even better stabilisation, precision and durability.

Metal bearing shell

40x20mm size

Extensive cabling options

Excellent on-application acoustics

Flow Acceleration Channels

Ultra-tight tip clearance

The NF-A12x25 features the further optimised second generation of Noctua’s renowned, time-tested SSO bearing. With SSO2, the rear magnet is placed closer to the axis to provide even better stabilisation, precision and durability.

Metal bearing shell
In order to guarantee the highest possible degree of manufacturing precision, minimum tolerance and excellent long-term stability, the NF-A12x25 sports a CNC milled bearing shell made entirely from brass.

OmniJoin™ Adaptor Set
Many devices featuring 5V fans use proprietary fan headers, so the NF-A12x25 5V comes with Noctua’s OmniJoin adaptor set. Just cut the original fan’s cable, fix it to the adaptor using the supplied 3M Scotchlok™ connectors and you can plug the NF-A12x25 5V to proprietary fan headers!

USB power adaptor cable
The fan includes a USB power adaptor cable that allows it to run on power banks, devices with USB host ports or USB power supplies such as those used for smartphones, giving you near endless possibilities for using the fan in your home, in your car or wherever a need for cooling occurs!

Extensive cabling options
The fan’s short 20cm primary cable minimises cable clutter in typical applications while the supplied 30cm extension provides extended reach when necessary. Both cables are fully sleeved.
