Asus rog b450-f gaming
Arduino Mega

CPU AGESA code
mb_bios_ga-970a-ds3p_f2j.zip
Rufus
Efiflash.

I recently swapped my Gigabyte X570 AORUS Ultra 1.0 with a 1.1 since I needed Thunderbolt support. My motherboard currently has BIOS version F10. I am trying to update to F20 to get better PCIE compatibility given the installation of a Thunderbolt card.
I am unable to update my BIOS although I am downloading the proper BIOS files. I tried in @bios and Q-FLASH. I noticed in @bios it detects the MOBO as a REV 1.0 while in reality it is a REV 1.1. See both pics in the thread.
@bios generates a «Failed to Update BIOS» message and Q-FLASH prompts a «OemID Mismatch». FWIW, I tried F11, F12 and F20 of both REV 1.0 and REV 1.1 (based on the checksum data, they appear to be the same for both REVs).
I tried using «update from internet» or local file on a USB stick. Nothing seems to work. The motherboard is not OEM flashed. It is built by BOXX and confirmed with the builder they did not do any funny business with SPI programming or flashing.
See pics which shows a discrepancy in the actual MOBO REV vs. what @bios detects.

Please answer all questions to help understand, and move along quick to solving your issue.
1. Is this a pre-build PC from Dell, Acer, or etc.
2. Which version are you on? If you’re not sure, get CPU-Z for us, then run it, click validate button to the right bottom, and click the submit, your broswer will open, copy the whole link and paste it here in the discussion please. This way we have the info we need about your system.
3. Where did you get your BIOS files from? How did you try to update your BIOS?
Yes it is from Hyrican.
From Gigabyte, I formatted my usb stick to FAT32, transferred the files on it and I used Q-Flash in BIOS to update.
This what you have to do.
1. Format the USB drive to FAT32 and got the BIOS update off the Gigabyte website, which I assume you did.
https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/Z370-HD3P-rev-10#support-dl-bios
2. When you downloaded the BIOS, unzip it, and drag the files to the USB drive.
3. Restart PC, get into BIOS, do the Q-Flash update, and select only the one file you need from the USB, which for this case the latest version is F7, so the file you want to select is Z370HD3P.F7
Now if still a problem, go get the F6 BIOS update instead, then if that works, then update to F7. Right now you’re on BIOS update F5.

theres an autoexec.bat, Efiflash.exe and a Z370HD3P.F6. I have tried all the BIOS versions. From F3 which is the release, to F7 which is the last. None of them worked and I don’t get why.
You should contact Hyrican for support, as I’m not sure what to tell you.

If it is the Gigabyte board which BIOS are you running now? I see 3960x Threadripper is supported since F2 BIOS. The latest BIOS is F4C with the better memory support (The C in the BIOS name suggests it’s Beta).
When you save the BIOS it saves in a compressed format (Probably Zip). Just go to where you downloaded it and
‘extract here’. BIOS is looking for a uncompressed file. I bet ya that’s whats doing you in!
