Norton Autofix is a diagnostic tool that checks for common problems with your Norton product and automatically fixes them.
Norton Autofix does not work in Windows Safe Mode.
Run Norton Autofix
Open your Norton device security product.
If you see the My Norton window, next to Device Security, click Open.
In the Norton product main window, click Help, and then click Get Support.
In the Norton Autofix window, monitor the progress.
When the problem is fixed, click Close.
If you encounter any problem with Norton Autofix, do the following:
If there is a problem connecting to the Internet, restore your Internet connection and then click Retry. For more information, refer section «Common connectivity issues that can interfere with Norton Autofix» below.
If you still have problem with the Internet connection, click Skip to continue with other Norton Autofix processes.
If the problem is not fixed automatically, click Open Support Website for further assistance.
Common connectivity issues that can interfere with Norton Autofix
Verify that your network cable is connected.
Verify that your wireless settings are correct.
Verify that your network adapter is correctly configured.
Verify that your DSL or cable modem is connected.
Check and ensure that parental controls do not block the Internet connection.
Ensure that the Network Cost Awareness option is not set to No Traffic. For more information, see Define the Internet usage for Norton
Ensure Norton Firewall settings are enabled to allow traffic. For more information, see Turn Norton Firewall on or off
If your network uses proxy servers to connect to Internet, LiveUpdate uses the proxy settings in your product to download the latest updates. You can use the Network Proxy Settings option in the Administrative Settings window to configure the proxy settings of your network.
Other issues that often cause Autofix problems
Free enough disk space on the drive that has your Norton product.
Ensure that your device’s date and time is correct.
Check if the Apply updates only on reboot option is set to on. This is applicable only for devices running Windows 7 or later.
If the problem still persists, you uninstall and reinstall Norton using the Norton Remove and Reinstall tool.

Fix browser or connectivity problems
This problem can happen due to a threat in your computer. To fix this problem, we recommend that you run a scan using Norton Power Eraser. Restart your computer in Safe mode, and run Norton Power Eraser.
Run the Norton Autofix tool
If you see the My Norton window, next to Device Security, click Open.
In the main window, click Help, and then select Get Support.
Norton Autofix automatically checks and fixes issues with the installation of your Norton product, or services that are not running optimally on your computer.
If the problem persists, go to Step 2.
Start the computer in Safe mode with Networking
Press the Windows + R keys to open the Run dialog box.
Type in the following text, and then press Enter.
If the User Account Control window appears, click Yes or Continue.
In the System Configuration window, on the Boot tab, select Safe boot and Network.
On Windows XP: In the System Configuration Utility window, on the BOOT.INI tab, select /SAFEBOOT and Network.
When you are asked to restart the computer, click Restart.
The computer restarts in safe mode with networking.
Download Norton Power Eraser and run a scan (on Windows 11/10/8/7)
Press Ctrl + J key, to open the Downloads window in your browser, and double-click the NPE.exe file.
If the User Account Control window prompts, click Yes or Continue.
Read the license agreement and click Agree.
If you have already accepted the license agreement, you will not be prompted again.
Norton Power Eraser checks for and automatically downloads the new version if available.
In the Norton Power Eraser window, select Full System Scan, and click Run Now.
If you want to include the Rootkit scan, click Settings, and under Scan and Log Settings, toggle the option Include Rootkit scan (requires a computer restart) and click Apply.
When you see a prompt to restart the computer, click Restart.
Wait for the scan to complete. Follow the on-screen instructions.
Download Norton Power Eraser and run a scan (on Windows XP/Vista)
Press Ctrl + J key, to open the Downloads window in your browser, and double-click the NPE.exe file.
If the User Account Control window prompts, click Yes or Continue.
Read the license agreement, and click Accept.
Norton Power Eraser checks for and prompts to download the new version if available.
In the Norton Power Eraser window, click the Scan for Risks icon.
By default, Norton Power Eraser performs a Rootkit scan and requires a system restart. When you see a prompt to restart the computer, click Restart.
If you do not want to include the Rootkit scan, go to Settings, and uncheck the option Include Rootkit scan (requires a computer restart).
Wait for the scan to complete. Follow the on-screen instructions.
Restart the computer in Normal mode
Press the Windows + R keys to open the Run dialog box.
Type in the following text, and then press Enter.
If the User Account Control window appears, click Yes or Continue.
In the System Configuration window, on the Boot tab, uncheck Safe boot.
On Windows XP: In the System Configuration Utility window, on the BOOT.INI tab, uncheck /SAFEBOOT.
When you are asked to restart the computer, click Restart.
The computer restarts in the normal mode which takes several minutes.
Fix browser or connectivity problems
This problem can happen due to a threat in your computer. To fix this problem, we recommend that you run a scan using Norton Power Eraser. Restart your computer in Safe mode, and run Norton Power Eraser.
Run the Norton Autofix tool
If you see the My Norton window, next to Device Security, click Open.
In the main window, click Help, and then select Get Support.

On Windows XP: In the System Configuration Utility window, on the BOOT.INI tab, select /SAFEBOOT and Network.
When you are asked to restart the computer, click Restart.
The computer restarts in safe mode with networking.
Download Norton Power Eraser and run a scan (on Windows 11/10/8/7)
Press Ctrl + J key, to open the Downloads window in your browser, and double-click the NPE.exe file.
If the User Account Control window prompts, click Yes or Continue.
Read the license agreement and click Agree.
If you have already accepted the license agreement, you will not be prompted again.
Norton Power Eraser checks for and automatically downloads the new version if available.
In the Norton Power Eraser window, select Full System Scan, and click Run Now.
