Сфера

В английском языке вопросительный знак обычно стоит в конце предложения, где он заменяет точку (точку). Однако вопросительный знак может также стоять в конце предложения или фразы, где он заменяет запятую (см. Также вопросительную запятую ) :

Хороша ли она по форме? стиль? имея в виду?

Это довольно часто встречается в испанском языке, где использование вопросительных знаков в квадратных скобках явно указывает на объем допроса.

Типологические варианты «?»

Риторический вопросительный знак или постоянная точка (см. Пунктуация иронии ) был изобретен Генри Денхэмом в 1580-х годах и использовался в конце риторического вопроса ; однако в 17 веке он устарел.
