Server can’t even generate, gets stuck at «Preparing start region for dimension minecraft:overworld»

Yeah so, I have no idea what the issue is. The server executable JAR file is screwed beyond belief.

I am on windows 10, and this computer is only a few months old, and has essentially no programs on it. There are multitude of issues.

1. Downloading the server file from the Minecraft website barely even worked, the file would freeze at 100 percent and I’d have to close my browser for it to complete downloading

2. The file itself is extremely slow/laggy, uses up a ton of memory for no reason.

3. The first time I boot up the server file, it generates the world, but takes over a minute to do it. After generating the spawn one time, it will not work anymore. The server is unjoinable even on localhost.

4. After it ‘works’ this first time, it does not anymore, the executeable gets stuck at this command line: Preparing start region for dimension minecraft:overworld (see attached image for more context).

Reinstalling the server file does not work, and I’m fairly certain it’s not my computer. I have plenty of memory on my computer, the fact the file is using all of it or nearly all of it blows my mind. I have had this game since 2011 and never been able to host successfully, but this string of issues I have never seen before. Tried googling it, found no results and have ran into nobody else with this issue. I find it insane that one of the most popular games of all time can’t even streamline server hosting, I am convinced that Mojang has intentionally made the software terrible/incredibly difficult to use as a way of coercing you to pay them to host a server for you via Minecraft Realms. I’ve never seen this issue across the multitudes of games I have hosted servers on, but this is pretty much useless diatribe and irrelevant.

Any ideas as to what the issue is? Any help would be really appreciated!

I uploaded an example of a datapack that modifies the existing dimensions, with custom features, terrain generation and structures: and a datapack that generates a new dimension (named skylands): as examples for verifing the Exception.

Hi! I tested the datapacks in vanilla 1.17.1 to verify it was correct and runs properly.

And here you can see that the world loads and contains all the modified generation:

And here you can see that the server loads the dimension properly in game:

That’s the evidence that Vanilla 1.17.1 loads properly both datapacks with no problems, but trying to do it on Spigot and you’ll get the shown Exception. Hope my answer helps

Yes they run properly but only due to luck. They are incorrectly structured and do not match the MC wiki or Vanilla datapacks.

Ok, I’ll change the folder distribution to match what you are asking for and update here

I checked my datapack that overwrites the existing dimensions, and the thing that you say in the linked ticket (that «dimension_type» should be in a directory, not inline the dimension configuration) in the case of my datapack I didn’t changed that:

It uses the vanilla «dimension_type», so it stays as «type»: «minecraft:overworld», not the one you mencioned in the linked ticket.

The datapack you uploaded has skylands.json:

And the normal one has the_nether.json with the same problem.

Let me change the nether.json to match the other ones and answer here

Ok, my mistake. I changed the datapacks to use the folder you mention:

And the server properly loads it:

It’s rare that vanilla one accepts inline configuration aside from the directories format.

Проблема в том, что на сервер не зайти? Логи абсолютно чистые, без единой ошибки. Есть предупреждение об отключённом online-mode, но это абсолютно нормально и не должно мешать. Мир успешно загружается.

Okay so I set up a home server for my family and I to play on however when we attempt to login it goes to the encrypting screen and stays there for 30 seconds then times out.

CPU: Intel core 2 duo CPU

Graphics Card: Nvidia Quadro NVS 135M

Try removing resource manager and try again. If its not that, then it could be your internet connection.

Also if i might add it may very well be your graphics card as stated by Nvidia

Just made a minecraft server a week ago using the minecraft_server.1.13.2.jar file. I’ve used it a few times. Now it says «Can’t connect to server.» I didn’t do anything differently, did not change IP addresses. I can’t connect and my friend can’t either. I would really, really appreciate some help. This is what the batch file returns:

It says the world is created, so I go to start it and it has the red X and says «Can’t connect to server». Thank you in advance!

Problems Starting Server

I have created a brand new server, however when i try to run it there seems to be a problem. This is only fixed when i delete the world file to create a new world. I have tried this multiple times with different world files and always seems to get stuck at the same point:

is 1.18 experiemental supported #990

Hey, first time using this docker image. Is it possible to run 1.18 experimentals from this? I tried building a docker compose for it but i got the following error:

mc_1 | [init] ERROR couldn’t find a matching manifest entry for 1.18_experimental-snapshot-2
I tested 1.17.1 just to make sure and that worked without issues

my docker-compose.yaml:

Since Mojang is doing these odd 1.18 pre-snapshot releases outside their normal mechanism it is not seamlessly supported like every other snapshot version used to be. I haven’t tried yet, but using TYPE=CUSTOM and supplying the pre-downloaded server jar should work.

Edit: I thought it worked, but for some reason it thinks that its snapshot 1, when in fact the jar file is snapshot 2.

When starting up the container, i see the following:

testing now, will update this in a few, I have a couple of different things going on, so it might be an hour. to your initial post, I wanted to say that the version is currently using underscores, not periods.

edit 2: my docker launch command and docker log

I don’t use docker compose, so this is a simple shell script. I have no idea why not, I think I had an issue either getting it to work or setting it up or something for ever ago and gave up trying as at the time, one minecraft server was the only thing I was using docker for and I just never bothered to do anything different than what was working already.

here is the docker log for the server starting up, seems good, I won’t be able to log on for another 30 mins or so

and then it generated spawn, very very slowly

Prepairing spawn area 0%

Hello I have been trying to set up my Linux debain mc server but I am unable to join locally due to it not spawning in the world but it also does not give me any error messages. Can anyone help thank!

Test it with another server type like Craftbukkit or Spigot

Tried it with spigot seems to go to 99% not sure if it should say 100 but its still not joinable
