Как появилась фраза «Bless you» в английском языке

Поговорим о происхождении фразы «Bless you» в английском языке? О теориях и мифах её появления сегодня расскажет Инга.

Вы никогда не задумывались над тем, почему во время чихания носители английского языка произносят фразу «Bless You»? Ведь при дословном переводе это словосочетание не имеет ничего общего с привычным нам «Будьте здоровы». На русский язык слово «Bless» переводится как «Благословлять».

Не смотря на то, что не существует этому одного простого объяснения, всё-таки есть несколько теорий, которые раскрывают причины по которым англичане и американцы говорят «Bless You!»:

Теория, которая связана с происхождением выражения: «Bless you» — это вера в то, что во время чихания, душа человека на мгновение покидает тело, и для того, чтобы её не украл Сатана, который всё время выискивает души людей, было принято говорить «God bless you», которое опять же со временем перешло в короткую форму «Bless you». Это всего лишь миф.
